“If I am not for myself, who will be?” - Pirke Avoth
I absolutely love the quote "If I am not for myself, who will be?", and I think it's perfectly fitting for my first boudoir photoshoot post. Boudoir is all about taking a moment to appreciate you. In this fast-paced and crazed world, some of us don't take enough time out to devote to self-care; this is the reason behind my passion for boudoir photography. Leave the kids with a friend, the volunteer commitments aside, and your day job at work - and focus on capturing your inner and outer beauty. Trust me, your 80-year old self will appreciate the photo memories.
So, what better person could I choose for my first ever boudoir photoshoot, but this beauty. I couldn't imagine a better subject. Not only is she my closest and dearest friend, but she's also a complete natural at being photographed. We opted for poses that made her feel comfortable and at home (we were also in her home for most of it, which helped), and used primarily natural light before heading into the studio for some high-glam shots.
Before the camera went click, we said cheers over mimosas and spent a few minutes browsing photo ideas online that we both really liked. I took a look around her apartment for pieces of furniture or clothing that we could use, then we hopped to it.
To me, the resulting images scream natural beauty, athleticism, independence, kindness, and a woman with an open heart and mind. Thank you for the chance to capture the true beauty you are.
